Bram Cohen interview in SF Chronicle
Good interview with Bram Cohen, inventor of BitTorrent, in the Sunday San Francisco Chronicle. Cohen will be giving an industry perspective speech at our upcoming Video on the Net event in Boston, Sept. 12-14.
In case you've been on the moon and don't know what BitTorrent is, here's a brief description from Cohen's show bio:
BitTorrent is both the name of the peer-to-peer (P2P) file distribution protocol and the client application for it created by Cohen. BitTorrent is designed to widely distribute large amounts of data without incurring the corresponding consumption in server and bandwidth resources (and typically, monetary fees attracted as a result of that). Currently, BitTorrent has more than 45 million users worldwide.
Though infamous for its use by peer-to-peer networkers -- who don't always share legal content -- BitTorrent is making strides to go legit, as its deal with Warner Bros. earlier this year shows.
